Les Claypool and Primus gave Cleveland fans an unforgettable night at Jacobs Pavilion on June 2, 2026, with the Claypool Gold Tour, showcasing all three of his current projects in one incredible evening. From start to finish, it was a celebration of creativity, musicianship, and the unmistakable bass wizardry that has made Claypool one of the most unique performers in rock music.

The night opened with The Frog Brigade, whose eclectic blend of progressive rock, psychedelic jams, and improvisation immediately set the tone. Their musicianship was exceptional, creating a loose but captivating atmosphere that drew the crowd in from the very first notes.

Next came The Claypool Lennon Delirium, and one of the highlights of the evening was watching Sean Lennon perform. Sean’s appearance and voice were strikingly reminiscent of his father, John Lennon. At several moments throughout the set, it felt as though echoes of Beatles history were floating through the pavilion. While Sean has certainly established his own artistic identity, the resemblance was impossible to ignore and added an emotional layer to an already mesmerizing performance. The band’s psychedelic soundscapes and experimental arrangements perfectly complemented Claypool’s adventurous style.

The evening culminated with a powerhouse headlining set from Primus. As always, Les Claypool proved why he remains one of the most fascinating bass players in music. Watching him perform is an experience in itself. His technical mastery, quirky stage presence, and ability to make the bass function as both a rhythmic and melodic instrument never cease to amaze. Every slap, tap, and groove drew cheers from a crowd that clearly understood they were witnessing a true original.

What made Claypool Gold and Primus such a special event was the opportunity to see three distinct sides of Les Claypool’s musical universe in a single night. Each project offered a different flavor, yet all shared the same spirit of innovation and fearless musicianship. The beautiful waterfront setting of Jacobs Pavilion only enhanced the experience, providing a perfect backdrop for an evening filled with psychedelic jams, progressive rock explorations, and unforgettable performances.

For longtime fans and newcomers alike, Claypool Gold and Primus was much more than a concert—it was a journey through the creative mind of one of rock’s most inventive musicians. By the end of the night, one thing was crystal clear: there is simply nobody quite like Les Claypool, and watching him command a stage with a bass in his hands remains one of live music’s greatest pleasures.
